Welcome to your People and Culture update where we highlight everything from academic excellence to new starters, goal setting for career success and our shared values.

You can also find out more about our upcoming Satisfaction and Engagement Survey. And in exciting news, our Ulton team is growing with current vacancies available across the business.

Study buddies

Did you know more than 15 per cent of our team are using our education benefits to assist them with their role-related studies?

Colleen Turvey, Client Services Officer in the Wealth Management team, and Krissy Field, Dealer’s Assistant in the Morgans team, embarked on a journey last year to complete an Advanced Diploma of Paraplanning with the International Institute of Technology. Impressively Krissy has completed the two-year course in less than 12 months and Colleen is almost there. Inspiring effort!

High performers

At Ulton, we strongly believe that you never stop learning, which is why we encourage our people to make the most of professional development opportunities. We’ve just completed our January PDP, an opportunity to reflect on the past six months, celebrate our achievements and plan for the future. Goal setting is a big part of this process.

If you want to take your career to the next level, here are our top 5 tips to advance it, starting today:

  1. Find a positive role model - learning from someone else's experience is a great way to gain knowledge and find new opportunities. Remember, if you can’t see it, you can’t be it.
  2. Keep track of wins – as humans, we tend to downplay our success and highlight our failings. Celebrate your workplace wins, recognise your true worth and use it as a powerful motivator for future success.
  3. Look for the lessons in losses – observe times when things didn’t go to plan. If you understand what happened, you’ll be more cognisant of why and how to do better in the future.
  4. Say yes to discomfort – don’t shy away from difficult situations, allow yourself to be in them. Answering in the affirmative is the best way to open yourself up to new and potentially exciting workplace opportunities.
  5. Continually reassess your plan – revisit your career goals often and honestly. Are they reflecting your changing attitudes and needs?

Get Some Satisfaction

In March, we will launch our Satisfaction and Engagement Survey. We’ve done this survey every two years for more than a decade as these surveys are a great way to hear from our most valuable resource – YOU!

This year, in the spirit of continuous improvement, we’ve removed all demographic questions. This tweak ensures you can complete the survey anonymously and have your say, honestly.

In our 2021 survey, 85% agreed with the statement, “Ulton is truly a great place to work” but we want to do better. So please tell us where and how we can improve when the Satisfaction and Engagement Survey lands in your inbox next month.

What matters to you? This is your chance to have your say and drive change for the better.

Service Mentality

We recently updated our shared values, and Service is number one of these. Service highlights how everyone, irrespective of their role, is critical to our collective success. It’s about taking pride in your work and giving it all that you have.

We’re proud of the many examples we have of team members living our shared value of Service. Let’s take a look at how our Fraser Coast team live the service value.
