Have you ever seen a duck cruising down a river—from the outside looking in, everything appears effortless, but below the surface, they are paddling furiously to keep moving?
This analogy is very relatable to our Bundaberg-based Bookkeeping team, who have mastered the art of delivering a calm and collected client experience, despite working like crazy behind the scenes.
As the powerhouse trio behind our bookkeeping services, Mary Donovan, Sian Townsend, and Amanda Soley (who has recently joined the team) have plenty of balls in the air at any given time.
“From takeaway food outlets to NDIS providers; from farming to smash repairs — our clients are from all over Queensland. We work with sole traders, family trusts, and large organisations,” said Sian.
“We’re here to take care of the bookkeeping function for our clients, which can involve managing payroll, paying creditors and suppliers, and keeping our clients up to date with legislation, trends, and regulation.”
“This means that our clients can get on with running their business, knowing that we’re keeping them financially up-to-date and compliant,” said Sian.
For the bookkeeping team, it’s not just what they do for their clients that matters – it’s also about how they do it.
“It’s incredibly important that we support our clients with a service that feels seamless. We’re here to make their lives easier,” said Mary.
The bookkeeping team has done a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure their clients always experience smooth, seamless service — regardless of how many competing priorities there are behind the scenes.
“Every client is important to us, so sometimes it’s a juggling act to get everyone what they need, when they need it,” said Mary.
“We have systems in place to make it work. For example, we use Job Manager to track our deadlines and we have multiple layers of collaboration baked into our process.”
“Firstly, each of us have our own clients, who we mainly work with, but we also cross-train so we know each other’s clients, too. This means that we can all step in to support each other, if the workload requires it.”
“Secondly, we don’t let anything go to the client until it has been checked, checked, and checked again,” said Mary.
She explains that when any piece of work is completed, it’s first reviewed by another member of the bookkeeping team, then it’s reviewed by the client’s service manager, before finally being delivered to the client.
By embracing this process, the bookkeeping team ensures an exceptional standard — in the quality of their work and the client experience they provide.
For this small but mighty team, teamwork is the secret ingredient that enables them to get through a huge and varied workload.
“Prior to the Bundaberg renovations, our team sat right outside Managing Partner Mark McLean’s office, so this was another way to ensure we delivered,” Mary joked.
Mary and Sian couldn’t be more excited to expand their team by welcoming Amanda into the fold. With these three powerhouses combining forces, there’s no obstacle too great and no challenge too big.
