  1. What’s your favourite movie?
One of my favourite movies is "Fracture".  This movie captured my attention from the start, and the twists and turns are really superb.  I challenge anyone to figure out how Anthony Hopkins hid the revolver before the movie reveals it.  The acting by Anthony Hopkins, Ryan Gosling and the support cast is outstanding.  It's a movie that stands on the storyline, not on special effects or stunts.  Not that there is anything wrong with special effects or stunts - don't get me started on "Gray Man" - also a must-see.
  2. Do you have any pets, if so, what’s their name?
Up until recently, I had a Corgi named Merlin, who was 15 years old.  I ended up adopting Merlin as a puppy as the breeder couldn't show him due to a "defect".  That "defect" was that he was double-coated!!!  That defect became the feature that people loved about him.
NB!  Sad note:  Merlin passed on Friday, the 8 September, but he brought joy to everyone he came in contact with.

  3. Can you speak more than one language?
I can't, and it bothers me lol! I have been learning Spanish through the Duolingo app on my iPhone. I have several Spanish friends who go back to Spain to visit relatives every year, and they have said that they would take me with them to explore the Spanish and Portuguese countryside. So, in preparation, I am feverishly trying to learn the language so I can broaden the experience. I keep getting told I don't roll the R's enough 🙂

We hope you settle in nicely and wish you every success in your new role. If you’re an “old hand” and see Irene around the office, introduce yourself and make Irene feel at home.

Ulton's NEW Dress For Your Day Policy: Your Attire, Your Choice

We're thrilled to announce a new and exciting change at Ulton that gives you more freedom and flexibility in your day-to-day work life. Starting today, we are implementing a 'dress for your day' policy, and we want to share all the details with you.

What is "Dress for Your Day"?
The dress for your day policy is all about allowing you to choose what you wear to the office or while working remotely, depending on your daily schedule. We understand that your workdays vary, and sometimes you might not have any client meetings or external interactions on your agenda. In those cases, we want you to feel comfortable wearing attire that suits your tasks and responsibilities.

However, it's essential to remember that even with this newfound freedom, we uphold our commitment to maintaining a professional image. When your day involves client meetings or any other external engagements, we ask that you wear clothing appropriate for our industry and the nature of your work. This means looking smart and professional, reflecting the high standards we hold as a professional services firm.

A few words from our Leaders
Senior Partner Mark McLean shares, "We feel like the 'dress for your day' code is a great step in the right direction to aligning with the changing Ulton working environment."

People and Culture Manager Ammie Cauchi adds, "The policy provides our team the freedom to make their OWN decision on their attire, suited to their working day."

Maintaining our professional standards
We want to be clear that this change is not about lowering our standards. Instead, it's an opportunity for us to embrace our individuality while continuing to elevate our professional image and reputation. You are all part of what makes Ulton great.

What to expect
As we all adjust to this new policy, we request your understanding and cooperation. Our managers and partners may have conversations with team members who are not adhering to the dress code, so please don't take offence if you find yourself in one of these discussions.

If you ever feel confused about the new dress code or have concerns about how someone else interprets it, we encourage you to reach out to us at attirealert@ulton.net. We are here to help and provide friendly reminders when needed.

We are excited to embark on this new journey together, and this dress for your day policy will help us embrace the changing work environment while maintaining our professionalism.

Ammie will be sharing with you via email more information as well as some examples of how to understand the policy. Keep an eye out for this update in your inboxes, and please feel free to reach out to her if you have any questions or need further clarification.

5 Practical Tips for Office Workers to Enhance Health and Wellbeing

In today's fast-paced corporate world, office workers often find themselves glued to their desks, juggling deadlines and meetings, which can take a toll on their health and wellbeing. As we prioritise our professional lives, it's crucial not to neglect our physical and mental health. This article provides five practical tips to help office workers maintain a healthier work-life balance.

1. Prioritize Mental Health
Mental health is as vital as physical health. Stress and anxiety can be pervasive in office settings, but you can manage them effectively. Take advantage of resources like from Queensland Mental Health Week for support and information. Additionally, practice mindfulness through meditation or deep breathing exercises during breaks to reduce stress levels and boost mental clarity.

2. Ergonomic Workstations
Office workers often spend extended hours at their desks, which can lead to posture-related problems and discomfort. Invest in an ergonomic chair and desk setup to support proper posture and reduce the risk of musculoskeletal issues. Make sure your computer monitor is at eye level and your chair provides good lumbar support.

Sitting for prolonged periods can have adverse effects on your health. Aim to incorporate regular physical activity into your day. Take short walks during breaks, stretch your muscles, and consider joining a local gym or participating in group fitness classes after work. Physical activity not only enhances your physical health but also boosts your mood and energy levels.

4. Healthy Eating Habits
The office environment can be filled with tempting snacks and unhealthy food options. However, making conscious choices about what you eat can significantly impact your overall health. Bring nutritious snacks and meals from home to avoid the temptation of processed foods. Opt for a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Staying hydrated is also essential, so keep a water bottle at your desk and aim to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

5. Disconnect and Set Boundaries
In today's digital age, it's easy to be constantly connected to work, even after office hours. Set clear boundaries for when work ends and personal time begins. Turn off email notifications and resist the urge to check your work-related messages during your downtime. Use your evenings and weekends to relax, engage in hobbies, or spend quality time with loved ones.

Maintaining health and wellbeing while working in an office is crucial for long-term success and happiness. By prioritising mental health, optimising your workspace, staying active, making healthy dietary choices, and setting boundaries, you can create a more balanced and fulfilling work-life experience.

Remember to check out resources like Queensland Mental Health Week for additional support and guidance on improving your mental health. Implementing these practical tips can lead to a healthier, happier, and more productive you in the workplace.
